The leaking walkways required refurbishment to provide a waterproof and durable non-slip surface. SIKA’s liquid coating system Sikalastic Rapid Trafficable was ideal for minimum disturbance to the occupants and for the avoidance of hot works. The existing walkway surface was cleaned and prepared ready to receive the new Sikalastic Rapid Trafficable roof system. Adhesion tests were successfully carried out before the primer, Sikalastic Rapid 721 with premium fleece reinforcement layer were applied as a waterproofing layer. A layer of Sikalastic Rapid Levelling Mortar with aggregate quartz was installed as protection and then a sealer coat was applied to provide a robust trafficable nonslip surface. The properties of the Sikalastic Rapid System provides quick curing times and therefore the system can be trafficked within 60mins of installation. The quick curing times were critical for this project due to the occupants requiring access throughout the installation.
Regular quality inspections were carried out by SIKA and a 15-year guarantee was issued on completion.
