Hungerford Fire Station

Berkshire

A local fire station recieved a modern look with a new Kalzip façade which is a pilot scheme for the corporate branding of further fire stations in the future.

Malones were engaged by main contractor Beards to supply and fix the Kalzip 65/400 PVDF Red finish Standing Seam system with concave and convex curves.

This project was the winner of an NFRC Sheeting & Cladding and Rainscreen Award and the Kalzip Contractor Choice Best Project Award.

The Hungerford tri-service station was the first in a RBFRS programme of redevelopment and has set the benchmark for the client’s corporate initiative to place fire stations at the heart of communities and to provide 21st century facilities.

To incorporate the conflicting interfaces of fire service, police service and community use in the design, we leveraged our experience of engaging with multiple client-side stakeholders to implement detailed design requirements and deliver a fully operational station.

As well as upgrades to the existing building, new amenities have been added for the benefit of the staff, and for use by members of the public for civic activities.
